Insanity!
Well, the name pretty much explains it all!
Insanity was my first BeachBody program, introduced to me in 2011 by my niece. As you may have read in the "My Story" section, I had already started my weightloss journey. If you haven't read it, then I think you should go back and read it! I'll wait for you....
Ok, this page is going to give a description of what you can expect from Insanity. But first, why don't you take a quick look at a the Promo Video found on Youtube...

Still with me? Insanity is a 9 week program, divided into 2 halves. The first 4 weeks, then a Recovery Week, and then the last 4 weeks. Videos in the first 4 weeks typically run 30-45 minutes whereas the videos in the last 4 weeks run 45-60 minutes. Some days can be longer when you have Cardio Abs scheduled. So yes, it does take a little time commitment, but trust me, its worth it.
There are also 5 Fit Tests scattered throughout the calendar. The first fit test kind of gauges your baseline on about 8 different exercise moves. A worksheet comes with the package and you track your performance throughout the 5 Fit Tests (the last Fit Test is the last day). I was AMAZED at how well my numbers improved throughout the 9 weeks on the Fit Test chart.
Fit Test Exercise Fit Test 1 Fit Test 2 Fit Test 3 Fit Test 4 Fit Test 5
Switch Kicks 31 41 45 46 50
Power Jacks 33 45 50 53 56
Power Knees 48 61 73 77 87
Power Jumps 17 23 28 29 31
Globe Jumps 3 5 6 7 8
Suicide Jumps 11 15 17 19 20
Push-up Jacks 11 18 28 30 31
Low Plank Oblique 21 37 45 46 47
As you all can see from the chart above, my numbers for every exercise improved, some by A LOT! Those are REAL numbers. Not only did my level of stamina and ability to perform go up, but I lost weight and lost about 16 inches overall. This program WORKS! It is NOT easy AT ALL! Don't let those numbers above fool you, it didn't get any easier, I was just able to do more reps. I was just as exhausted and out of breath and sweaty and wanting to throw up on Fit Test 5 as I was after Fit Test 1! Insanity will always be hard, because you are going to improve your cardio and improve your fitness, so you DO MORE reps, you are always going to PUSH YOURSELF to do better.
I will be honest, I did the Fit Test about 3 times without recording my numbers before actually saying "Ok Jarrod, I can do this!" After Insanity became part of my routine, I actually LOOKED FORWARD to working out... oh there were times in the middle of the workout, who am I kidding, there were times during the 9 minute warmup that I wanted to cuss out Shaun T, I don't think any exercise program has been so appropriately named... INSANITY. There will be days when its over, you will be laying on the floor in a puddle of your own sweat, barely able to move, barely wanting to move, actually, but it is worth every painful minute.
The key to success, in my opinion on this program is to go at your own pace, there's no point in trying to keep up with Shaun or the rest of the crew, that will only make you frustrated because you can't go as fast or you have to take more breaks. Heck, you might even end up hurting yourself by pushing yourself too hard. Just go at your own pace and you WILL improve. Just DON'T give up, just grab a drink of water, towel off and get back in the movement, you won't regret it, but you WILL REGRET turning off that DVD and not putting it back in.

Me with my Insanity package. Probably one of the most proud moments of my entire weight loss journey right there, PROOF I completed the hardest physical challenge I have ever attempted in my life. So proud!
